who we are

campus minister

Here is a little bit of info about our family so you can get to know us better. We hope to have the chance to meet you and serve as your home away from home while you're in Troy. Please feel free to get in touch with us!

Lauren: Rick is a native of Americus, GA. He grew up there swatting gnats while playing baseball and banging on some drums.

He came to Troy in 2000 as a naive freshman (his words). He changed his major a couple times, then finally decided on speech communication, graduating in 2004.

He always knew he'd be going to church, but had no idea the impact God would have on his life during his time at Troy. While at the CSC he developed a passion for people and for God's work and.....met a girl.

Rick: Her name is Lauren. She grew up in Mobile, AL, and came to Troy in 2003 and quickly fell madly in love with me.

Lauren: Uh-hmm, that's not exactly how it happened.

Rick: Ok, you're right. Maybe it's the other way around. Four years later Lauren graduated with a PR degree, we were getting married and both of us had realized our passion for ministry because of the CSC. We wanted to do full-time ministry together and God led us to serve a group of teens at East Cobb church of Christ in Marietta, GA.

Lauren: That's where our son, Benjamin, was born. A busy little red-head, who has kept us on our toes since the day he was born. He has one speed - fast! And the quote about boys being "noise with dirt on it" was coined with him in mind. :)

Rick: We lived in Marietta for two and a half years when the Troy CSC position became a possibility. As hard as it was to leave East Cobb, it was like coming home. Troy holds such a special place in our hearts.

Lauren: After a few years in Troy, we had a second child, Elliott. He is a slightly more chill in the busy category, but does everything he can to keep up with his big brother, "Benjin." He's a sweet boy with a large vocabulary.

God has blessed us beyond belief. We feel Him at work everyday and it's such a blessing to see the excitement students have for their Creator.

Rick: We can't wait to see what God is going to do in our ministry in the upcoming years. We're excited about our new ministry teams and our students.

We'd love for you to experience it with us!
